Collection: Serums & Ampoules

A serum is the step between toner and cream, and the brands themselves agree on that: Anua tells you to apply its niacinamide serum morning and night before your moisturizer, and Medicube has you smooth its PDRN serum onto clean, dry skin before sealing it in with a cream. The word "ampoule" on a bottle doesn't change that order — you choose one the same way you choose a serum, by the active inside and the job it does, not by the name on the label.

The job is often printed right on the front: Korean brands like to put the active and its percentage in the product name. Anua describes its 10% niacinamide and 4% tranexamic acid serum as care for post-blemish marks and uneven tone; Medicube lists salmon DNA PDRN, peptides and niacinamide as the key ingredients of its serum — a lightweight formula for elasticity and glow. Lines and texture are retinol's territory: in the EU it is capped at 0.3% in face products, so the figure on the bottle — 0.1 or 0.3 — tells you honestly how strong the formula is within what is allowed.

Active serums ask for a little discipline. With its retinol serum, Anua advises beginners to start at two or three evenings a week and build up gradually — always at night, always with SPF the next morning; the same house recommends daytime sun protection with its brightening serum too. When choosing between two bottles, compare what each maker says it is for and how it fits what you already use: strong actives are wisest introduced one at a time.
