Beauty of Joseon puts its work in one line: inspired by Hanbang, connected by community, created for your healthiest skin. Hanbang is traditional Korean medicine built on natural ingredients, and the brand reads it through one particular book — the Gyuhap Chongseo, a nineteenth-century Korean encyclopedia of women's household knowledge that included what to do for skin. From there come its two constants. Ginseng, which the old texts call the herb of immortality. And rice: in the Joseon period the water left from washing rice bran was used the way a toner is used now, and it was called beauty water. The formulas themselves are modern and clean, and the brand is cruelty-free.
