Colour cosmetics are everything applied to the face for colour, shine or texture rather than for care: foundation and cushion, powder, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, brow pencil and brow gel, lipstick, lip tint and lip gloss. In Serbian the whole group goes by one word — šminka — but an individual product is chosen by format and by the job it has to do.
What marks Korean makeup out is a deliberately thin line between colour and skincare. Missha describes its BB cream as skincare and makeup in one step — coverage, hydration and sun protection in a single formula. Braye lists 60% skin-caring ingredients and shea butter in its Lipsleek — one colour for lips and cheeks alike — with a semi-matte finish free of the dryness typical of matte lipsticks. In other words, you pick the colour the way you always did, but the formula underneath it increasingly does skincare work too.
The easiest way through the category is zone by zone. Complexion: foundation or BB cream across the face, concealer point by point, powder last, against shine. Eyes: mascara by what it does to lashes — length, volume or curl; shadows and liner by how defined a look you want. Lips: lipstick or tint when colour has to last, gloss or lip oil when shine and care matter more. Brows: a pencil draws, a gel holds. And when torn between two products, start from what should still be on your face by evening — colour, shine, or the feel of cared-for skin.
